Benefits of Cannabinoids

Pharmacological, physiological and psychological effects of principal cannabinoids present in chemovars.

‘’ Medical Marijuana is ….one of the safest therapeutically- active substances known to man.’

Cannabinoids, a group of 21 carbon compounds present in Cannabis sativa L., their carboxylic acids, analogs, and transformation products (see above) are the active ingredients found in hashish and marijuana.

Cannabis sharpens the mind, it makes the skin tenderer, It ‘’uppers’’ all sensory functions as sight, hearing, color sensitivity and stimulate, as no other drug!,  the sexual arousement by men and women on (all) three aspects. Cannabis affects cognition and memory, euphoria, sedation, and pain (analgesic (antinociception). The reason why will become clear after reading the following scientific data.

(-)-trans –Δ1(delta)- tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the major psycho-pharmacologically active component of Cannabis, followed by Cannabidiol (CBD) which exhibits an antagonistic effect on THC1 and acts physiologically as a (smooth) muscle relaxer. CBD exhibit strong anticonvulsant activity for 3 from the 4 major types of epilepsy. CBN and CBC show even to have therapeutic effects.

Cannabinoids as modulators

Cannabinoids modulate the activity of virtually every messenger system in the brain;  GABA, dopamine, acetylcholine, the endorphins, prolactin, glutamate, histamine, norepinephrine, prostaglandins,  serotonin, and opioid-peptides….This may explain why Cannabis has an impact on so many medical conditions.’’ An antagonist, however, like THCV, will act like a ''appetite depressant''.

CBD as an artifact

CBD is an artifact and not from a biogenetic origin. Only significant present in cured, old marijuana and hashish (99.99%). CBD  is an ’indica’’ effector (marker). CBD antagonized  CB1 & CB2 agonists like THC. Therefore the high will be lower but will significantly prolonged this high.

Downregulating of tumor aggressiveness

CBD represents the first nontoxic exogenous agent that can significantly decrease Id-1 expression in metastatic breast cancer cells leading to the down-regulation of tumor aggressiveness.

The individual cannabinoids, their effects, and medical applications

Cannabinoid

Effects & features; Medical Applications

      THC Tetrahydrocannabinol

Responsible for the ‘’High’’-effect (psychotropic), it uppers all sensory functions as sight, hearing, color sensitivity and increases as no other drug! Sexually stimulating by men and women on (all) three aspects. A strong feeling of Euphoria. It sharpens the mind. Analgesic (pain relieving), well-being, sedative relaxing. Lowering IOP sharpens sight: (anti-glaucoma)

THC/THCV ratio determines the degree of appetite stimulation.

THC uppers, THCV lowers appetite.

Bronchio- dilating effect (anti-asthma).

        THCV

                    Tetrahydrocannabivarine

Potentiate THC strongly, and provokes heavy ‘’buzz-types’’. Stronger & faster High effect. It makes the strain ‘’powerful’’. THCV  is a cannabinoid CB1 and CB2 receptor antagonist; The ‘’high’’ comes quicker and disappear sooner.

Quick & flashy effects

THCV is found in very potent marijuana originated in Southeast and Central Asia:

Growth at high altitudes

Euporiant & Analgesic, lowers appetite.

     CBD

Cannabidiol

CBD works antagonistically in micromolar range; it has an opposite effect of THC. It reduces the psychoactive effect, or the ‘’high’’ of THC, but in contrast, it will prolong slowly but increasingly this effect strongly. CBD inhibits the THC breakdown in the liver, by inhibiting the so-called cytochrome P-450-3A and 2C (subfamilies of clean-up) enzyme system. Body-effect; drowsy. Just like THC and CBN analgesic. CBD and THCV both enhance intoxication; you will ‘’feel it’’.

Not psychoactive.

Strong (smooth) muscle relaxation. Sedative. reduces muscle spasm.

     CBN

Cannabinol

Mild psychoactive, sedative, analgesic.

Mildly psychoactive (weak agonist for CB1 receptor)

High concentrations: disoriented and often sleepy.

     CBG

Cannabigerol

Sedative, anti-microbial properties, Drowsiness. Responsible for the typical ‘’Hashish-effect’’, clear bright activating high (special ‘’skunk-hash types)

Lowers intra-ocular pressure ( IOP/ glaucoma).

     CBC

Cannabichromene

Potentiate THC, it interacts someway with THC to make the ‘’high’’ more intense, and act, like most other cannabinoids (same structure relationships) sedative and analgesic.
